Chris Rodger
Chris has been guiding for Heatherlea since 2022, leading tours throughout Scotland and many overseas destinations. He is a lifelong birdwatcher with a deep passion for learning about bird ecology and behaviour.
After studying Zoology, his early career was as warden of National Nature Reserves on Shetland, Orkney and the Inner Hebrides. Today he splits his time between guiding and work as a Consultant Ecologist, specialising in Ornithology and Habitat Assessment throughout Scotland. This allows Chris to regularly travel and enjoy birds throughout the world, particularly the tropics.
Living in Musselburgh, Chris has a great birding location on his doorstep and he also enjoys migrant birding around Scotland's coast and islands. Chris is on the Scottish Rarities Committee and loves the thrill of finding rare and scarce birds - especially when in the company of Heatherlea guests!
When not birding, Chris enjoys hitting the hills, working his way through Scotland's Munros and Corbetts.
